While rationing was supposed to help with Australia's war effort by creating a larger surplus of food for the soldiers fighting many critics believe that this didn't work exactly as planned. However, the extra money people saved due to the buying restrictions rationing brought was put to use by the government. These extra saving were taken out of banks as 'war loans' and used to finance more ammunition production, soldier training and transport. Also food saved from the rationing was then able to be shipped to the battle grounds for the soldiers as long as it did not spoil before hand, the saving effects brought on by rationing was able to ensure food was delivered safely and before it spoiled.
Over all, the implementation of rationing food, fabric and also fuel did work well and was justified even though it could have been done better.
